Sir Anthony Seldon, Founding Director of Wellington College Education, outside Wellington College

Welcome

Wellington College Education (WCE) is a network founded by Wellington College, whose purpose is to align and maximise the impact of all our global education activities, directly or through partnership, with the ultimate aim of the whole being significantly greater than the sum of our individual parts.

Encompassing ten co-educational schools around the world as well as Festivals of Education in the UK, US, China and Thailand, WCE will expand educational opportunities and foster cultural connectivity through leadership, innovation and international collaboration.

“I am delighted to rejoin the Wellington fold after a decade away. Wellington College Education, alongside our worldwide partners, aims to raise global educational standards and empower young minds by becoming the most admired and innovative family of schools in the world. Nothing is more important than education and having this opportunity to work with schools internationally is an enormous privilege.”

Our Founding School

Wellington College, Crowthorne, UK

Wellington College is a pioneering co-educational institution, which is driven by the need to provide young people with the knowledge, skills and character to fulfil their potential and help shape and serve the ever changing world in which they live.

Our Heritage

Wellington College (Crowthorne, England) was the vision of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Granted its Royal Charter in December 1853, with Queen Victoria laying the foundation stone in 1856, the school opened in 1859 as a national monument to Arthur Wellesley,
the first Duke of Wellington and one of the country’s most renowned military figures and statesmen.

Its purpose was to provide an education to the children of soldiers who died in service. Today, Wellington College is a globally acknowledged, leading British co-educational boarding and day school providing a world-class holistic education within an inclusive community.

Bilingual Schools (Hiba)

Wellington College Education (China) also provides a partnership with Hiba Academies. Hiba are dedicated to connecting the educational excellence of the East and West to create a pupil-centric, bilingual, bicultural learning experience.

The Hiba ethos is to inspire children to be the best version of themselves, to take pride in where they come from and to be the change they wish to see in the world, expressed through the motto:
Be You. Be More.

Huge congratulations to Wellington’s A-level students on achieving a stunning set of results this morning. 72 of them secured straight A grades or better, with a remarkable 24 candidates recording at least three A*s, due reward for the hard work, commitment and resilience they displayed throughout their rigorous two-year courses. Building on the outstanding successes achieved by the College’s IB Diploma students earlier this summer, the entire cohort of 2026 leavers can be immensely proud of all they have accomplished: nearly a third of all grades currently sit at the highest A*/7 level and over two-thirds at A*/A or 7/6. Overall, 125 graduating Wellingtonians have secured a clean sweep of A*/A grades in their A-levels or 7/6 at the IB equivalent Higher Level, underlining the College’s reputation as a school of real academic distinction, and one of the very few that offers both 16+ pathways to such a high standard.

@Welly_Master has this to say: “It has been a joy to have witnessed the journey of this remarkably talented, bright and positive year group over the past five years. They have been national sporting champions across multiple disciplines, boys and girls; they have produced artistic performances in the theatre, dance hall and music school which would not be out of place in the Proms or the West End; they have served and led others with distinction through all manner of charitable endeavours, service activities and global citizenship programmes; and they have been one of the smiliest and cheeriest year groups I can remember! I am absolutely thrilled that they now leave the College not just with an outstanding set of examination results which will set them up brilliantly for their time at university, but also with a toolkit of skills, a mindset of service leadership, and a suite of competencies which will allow them to flourish as adult humans in their lives beyond Crowthorne.”

We wish them the very best of fortune as they move on to the next stages of their academic careers and beyond. We look forward to staying in close touch through WellyConnect, our wide-ranging alumni programme supporting our leavers from school to higher education and first jobs.

Wellington College schools always reflect the communities they serve. In Lagos, that means a school as dynamic and diverse as the city itself, where students access a world-class British education without leaving behind the culture and identity that shape them.

It's what many Nigerian families are looking for: the confidence for their children to step into the world and the roots to stay connected to it.

That's why at Wellington College International Lagos, we will encourage our students to think globally, stay grounded in who they are and build the kind of character it takes to contribute meaningfully wherever life takes them.

Because preparing young people for the future begins with helping them
