Prep’s Tour to China Strengthens Wellington College International Connections

Wellington College International celebrates the success of an immersive Easter tour to China, where eighteen Year 7 and 8 pupils from Wellington College Prep strengthened relationships with our partner schools in Shanghai, Suzhou, and Nantong.

During the ten-day programme, pupils shared lessons with peers at Hiba Academy Shanghai and Wellington College International Shanghai, explored the skyline from the Oriental Pearl Tower, and applied classroom theory in an interdisciplinary workshop at Shanghai Disneyland.

Venturing onward to Suzhou, the group examined classical Chinese garden design in the UNESCO-listed Humble Administrator’s Garden and experienced local heritage on a traditional canal boat ride. The visit concluded in Nantong, where pupils joined the International Day celebrations at Hiba Academy Nantong, participated in calligraphy and culinary workshops, and reflected on their learning during a twilight cruise along the Bund.

By collaborating across three campuses, pupils advanced their Mandarin skills, exchanged views on sustainable development projects, and established an ongoing virtual “Buddy Board” for joint academic inquiry.

Wellington College International commends the pupils’ exemplary conduct and intellectual curiosity, which embody the College’s commitment to global citizenship, scholarship, and kindness. Their experiences in China not only enhanced personal growth but also reinforced the College’s wider mission to foster educational excellence through international partnership.
