Wellington College International Pune Ranked No. 1 in India for Learner-Centric Campus Design

Mr Harshwardhan Singh receiving the Learner-Centric Campus Design award for Wellington College International Pune

Wellington College International Pune is No. 1 in India for Learner-Centric Campus Design. The ranking comes from the EducationWorld Grand Jury India School Rankings 2026-27. The school’s Facility Manager, Mr Harshwardhan Singh, received the award on behalf of the whole school community.

Learner-centric campus design in Pune

It opened in September 2023 on a riverside site in Pune. MICA, a British architectural firm, designed the campus, which will have room for 800 pupils aged 2 to 18 when full. Pupils follow a curriculum that runs from the early years through to the IB Diploma.

From the start, the school wanted every space to put students at the centre. So the buildings and grounds encourage curiosity and collaboration, which keeps pupils engaged. They also support pupils’ development as whole people. In fact, the school sees its campus as part of the learning experience in its own right.

“A home away from home”

Mr Nigel Fossey MBE, Master of Wellington College International Pune, said: “We are incredibly delighted to have been ranked number 1 in India for Learner-Centric Campus Design. Visitors comment on the modern, collaborative learning and outdoor spaces as being world-class, and ones which elevate the experience of school for learners, staff, and families.”

He added: “WCIP is a home away from home where the community flourishes.”

A second award for the campus

This also follows two awards for the school at The Times of India’s Times Education Icons 2026. One of them, Excellence in International Learning Environment and Campus Design, recognised the campus too. The other was for Excellence in Global and Future-Ready Education.
