Paresh combines academic excellence with global leadership experience across government, strategy, and education. A Cambridge First Class graduate in Natural Sciences, he began his career in investment banking before taking senior roles at the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, including extensive overseas postings.
After completing his MBA in the top 10% of his class at London Business School, he joined McKinsey and later held the roles of Head of Strategy and Chief Operating Officer at Hiscox. He went on to serve as Bursar and CFO/COO at Winchester College, where he led the move to coeducation, oversaw substantial growth, and delivered a £70m campus development programme.
Paresh now leads Wellington College International, shaping global strategy and partnerships to deliver outstanding Wellington schools worldwide.
Fiona brings over 30 years of experience in education and is a specialist in Early Years. After rising to Head of Early Years in UK local government, she led major improvement programmes and played a pivotal role in implementing new curriculum and assessment frameworks nationally. Guided by a clear vision to create conditions that maximise learning for young children, she ensures strong foundations for independence, communication and creativity. Fiona holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Sheffield.
At WCI, she drives global partnerships and strategic initiatives, leading cross‑functional collaboration in brand, marketing, and partner engagement to ensure each school reflects Wellington’s distinctive ethos and high standards.
Paul has over 30 years of experience in premium education, including 15 years in senior and group-level leadership. He graduated from UCL with First Class honours in Modern European Studies and a Master’s in French, followed by a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Cambridge.
He spent 20 years at St Paul’s School and St Paul’s Girls’ School in London, later holding Headship roles in London and China. Since joining WCI in 2024, Paul has supported schools in China and leads business development across South‑East Asia and Africa, while overseeing network-wide quality assurance. His career also includes serving as a governor, an Independent Schools Inspectorate inspector, a Cambridge International examiner, and teaching roles at the Sorbonne Nouvelle and UCL. He is fluent in French and Italian.
Joel has 25 years of experience in education and has led three schools as Head, including as a founding Head. His career spans the UK, China, Egypt, and the Middle East, with leadership roles including Head, Governor, Boarding Housemaster, Head of Mathematics, Director of Sport, Deputy Head, and most recently Head of College at Fettes College Guangzhou.
He holds degrees from the University of Auckland and in Educational Leadership. Joel’s work has included contributions to accreditation standards such as BSO, COBIS and BSME. At WCI, he leads strategic initiatives and partnerships supporting new school launches, governance, and operational excellence, ensuring schools deliver an authentic and high‑quality Wellington education.
Edwin is an architect and estates leader with extensive experience in large‑scale campus design and construction. He previously served as a Partner at John Rowan & Partners in London and holds an MSc in Construction Economics & Management from UCL and a first degree in architecture from the University of Hong Kong.
Before joining Wellington in 2019, he was Estates Bursar at Cheltenham Ladies’ College. At Wellington, he leads strategic estate development across the College and the global WCI network, driving master planning, infrastructure delivery, sustainability, and compliance. He also supports partners worldwide with the design and construction of new Wellington campuses.
Rachel brings over 25 years of educational experience, combining academic leadership with deep pastoral expertise. A former Housemistress, Senior Housemistress, Head of Year and Chemistry teacher, she has held significant roles across leading UK schools.
She studied at the University of Bristol and the University of Durham, building strong foundations in both subject and educational practice. At WCI, Rachel shapes academic strategy, quality assurance, and curriculum excellence across the international network. She also leads pastoral and boarding development projects and oversees programmes such as the UK University Pathway, ensuring students are well supported both academically and personally.
Julia Sutcliffe
Academic Director
Julia brings 15 years of experience in education, specialising in Economics across some of the UK’s leading schools. Before joining Wellington College International, she taught Economics at Wellington College (TWC), Manchester Grammar School, and Wycombe Abbey, building a strong reputation for academic excellence and rigorous, values‑driven teaching.
She holds degrees from Tufts University, Columbia University, and the University of Reading, giving her a multidisciplinary academic foundation and a deep understanding of global educational contexts. As International Academic Director, Julia supports academic strategy and quality assurance across Wellington’s international schools. Her work focuses on curriculum alignment, teacher development, and strengthening academic standards to ensure a consistently high‑quality Wellington experience for students worldwide.
Julia’s commitment to intellectual curiosity, analytical thinking, and high academic expectations underpins her contribution to the global Wellington network, helping shape ambitious, world‑class educational provision.
David has over 25 years of teaching experience in both state and independent schools. He graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Chemistry and later completed a postgraduate degree in Education.
He joined Wellington College in 2004 as Head of Chemistry before becoming Head of Science. For the past 11 years, he has served as International Academic Director, strengthening academic quality, curriculum alignment, and cross‑network collaboration. David also facilitates cultural, artistic, and sporting links between Wellington schools worldwide, and contributes to global quality assurance as an IB examiner and CIS team member.
Abbie brings 25 years of experience in IP licensing, technology commercialisation and strategic partnerships across academia and industry. She holds advanced degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford.
At WCI, she drives global growth initiatives, leading market entry planning, partnership development, and commercial modelling for new international schools. She manages licensing and contracting processes and supports partners through feasibility, development and launch phases, ensuring alignment with Wellington’s educational ethos. Her work strengthens WCI’s global presence and builds long‑term, values‑aligned partnerships.
Ana Romero
Head of Sustainability
Ana is Head of Sustainability for Wellington College and Wellington College International, leading global climate education, sustainability strategy, and student engagement across the family of schools. She oversees initiatives such as intergenerational climate dialogues, student-led sustainability programmes, and cross-school collaboration, empowering students to become informed, values-driven climate leaders. Ana also supports sustainable practices across international campuses, working with partners to strengthen environmental action and reporting. As Global Education Coordinator ensures sustainability, ethics, and global citizenship remain central to the Wellington ethos.
The team support the schools through the entire lifecycle—from market research and master planning to construction, admissions, and network connectivity.
